Trying to document the periphery of Burning Man culture, where the rubber of its unique ethos meets the asphalt of the Default world, is not a simple task. But that’s what we’re trying to do. We are working towards some deep perspectives which can only be explored through the long-form documentary format, but in the meantime, we’ve decided to share some of our footage online as a way of gifting back to the community.
Like arrays of small telescopes that form one large radio telescope (for instance, LOFAR in western Europe), we hope that these videos will begin to fill in a picture of Burning Man hitherto unseen, that of an emerging global movement with radical aspirations for social change. Think of our process as interferometry for Burners, those particles of being whose precise position and momentum cannot be measured, whose activities are a smear across time, and whose most sublime achievements are the celebration of transience.
